Frequently Asked Questions (Medication Management)

Are there any in person medication management appointments?

No. All our medication appointments are virtual.

How long are the appointments?

Initial visits last 45-60 minutes and follow up appointments are 20-30 minutes.

Do I have to see a therapist at Patterson Psych Group?

No. You do not have to see one of the therapists at our practice.

At PPG, it is important to us that you see the providers you feel most comfortable with. If you have a therapist you enjoy working with, you can continue services with them.

Can I use my insurance for medication management?

We cannot file your insurance for you at this time. We are in the process of getting in network with BCBS for this service but you would have to pay for the visits up front and then file it to your insurance for reimbursement yourself.

Does the prescriber also do therapy?

No. Our prescriber only provides medication management services. That does not include therapeutic interventions but one of Ms. McKinnon's philosophies is to build a positive therapeutic relationship with each of her patients.

What if I run out of my medication or need a refill before my next appointment?

We should schedule your follow-up appointments before you would be running out of medication. However, sometimes things happen and our schedules get a little off. If this happens, you can contact our office and inform Ms. McKinnon's assistant, Savannah, of your need and she will help you get it addressed.
